Guide activities in tourism

The bachelor study branch “Guide activities in tourism” is great for all, who like travelling and would like to work as guides in many places in Czech Republic and in foreign countries. This branch meets the requirements of the European norm EN 15 565 “Tourism services – requirements to the provider of technical education and qualification programme for tourist guides” and, as the only study branch in Czech Republic, offers its students unique education on the highest European level.

 

Professional knowledge

The student will gain knowledge of aspects of sustainable development of tourism and of protection of environment, cultural and historical heritage and cultural traditions. He will also learn to take care of the entertainment of the customers and to offer services to specific customers, for example senior people, children, handicapped, etc. The graduate can also organize entertaining animation programmes and can include the customers into these programmes. In this way he will provide them with exceptional experience.

 

Graduate employment

The graduate will find work in all sorts of guiding activities, be it as a tour leader, tour accompaniment or a tourist guide, including work in travel agencies or in agencies procuring hostesses, etc. A very interesting field for employment is also the service provider MICE, who can provide work and social meetings, exhibitions or entertainment programmes.

Much has changed over the years – the school keeps going forward, is now more focused on practice, the subjects are more technical and more narrowly focused. VŠO is one of the few schools in the Czech Republic, which really focuses on practice. During the studies, we have for example: worked on projects, whose results were inspected by the National Heritage Institution. A lot of the lectures were also led by external lectors, so we were learning things as they were applied in real life.

Simona Kremerová

Simona works as a Program Coordinator in the company Smaller Earth. In year 2009 she took part in a work stay in New York. She spent three and a half year in England and worked for an Australian travel agency. Work never bothered Simona and that is why, when she got the opportunity to go to America as kitchen help, she did hesitate. She gathered experience, found new friends and travelled through some parts of the United States with the money she earned. That is how job opportunities in England or Spain opened up to her.

Jakub Velička

He studied aviation theory on the Oxford Aviation Academy. He went through practical training in Czech Republic and Poland. He is a holder of CPL/ME/IR licences. 

Jaroslava Kolářová

Jaroslava has finished a study stay in Italy. During her studies she works in the hotel industry. She can speak Italian, English, French and a bit of Spanish. Jaroslava has always known what she wanted to reach in life and tries to reach that, no matter how impossible that might seem to someone. You will not find words such as “not possible”, “I don’t have a chance” or “I will not try” in her vocabulary.

Barbora Malá

Barbora has worked as a call centre questioner or a project manager. She has newly started as a VŠO Marketing Manager and leads the Client centre. Her hobbies are travelling, volleyball and cycling.
